Jane Elder has played a leading role in advancing policy to protect wilderness, national lakeshores, and the waters of the Great Lakes region over many decades. She founded the Sierra Club’s Great Lakes program, headed the national Biodiversity Project, and served as executive director for the Wisconsin Academy of Sciences, Arts & Letters, and also served two terms on the Great Lakes Water Quality Board. Her book provides an insider’s perspective into the quest to protect the Great Lakes and the region’s ecological health and resilience.
